One change too many

Have you ever heard a story about a veteran software developer who decides a major change in their field of technology is enough, and it prompts them to retire?

This is how I feel about my regular grocery store rearranging the aisles, but instead of retiring from a tech career, I’d be retiring from buying food ever again.

  1. Though it’s not really the vector, it’s also not not the vector that impending AI-in-everything led me to stop my work as a developer. So, yes.

    And also, yes: the wholesale rearrangement at Sobeys is a huge overwhelm. Neural pathways that I’ve developed over 25 years have been tossed asunder nothing is where it should be. The primary value proposition for my continuing to shop there religiously was predictability: I knew where the chick peas were. Now I don’t.
