We’re looking for a new designer to join our team over at silverorange. We aren’t necessarily looking for someone with years of experience and an enormous portfolio. If you’ve got the spark and are able to learn as you go (and can work in Charlottetown, PEI), let us know. Be sure to read the full job description and instructions before contacting us.

White Stripes Rock the Harbour
The White Stripes just played a world-class rock and roll show here in Charlottetown. A bit earlier in the evening, they played a surprise set on a boat in the harbour (YouTube video).
They easily have the best dressed roadies in the business.
Buying Happiness – My New Guitar
Mostly so I can have an excuse to tell people about what a beautiful guitar I have, I’ve written a review of my new Taylor GS5 acoustic guitar over at the silverorange stuff site.
This is the closest I’ve come to actually being able to buy happiness.

Phantom Cell Phone Vibrations in Print
A few weeks ago I got a call from Angela Haupt, a reporter for USA Today. She wanted a few quotes for an article she was writing about phantom cell phone vibrations. Thanks to Google, a short post I made in 2004 makes me a leading expert on the topic.
The article went up on the USA Today website, uh, today under this question-mark-heavy heading: Good vibrations? Bad? None at all?. I’m not sure if/when it will be in the print-version of the newspaper.
I should have recorded the phone call so I could listen myself say this again (I don’t remember saying it, but it does sound like something I would say):
“I’d be sitting on the couch and feel my phone start to vibrate, so I’d reach down and pull it out of my pocket. But the only thing ringing was my thigh.”
It’s nice to be part of America’s most colourful [sic] newspaper. I look forward to being stepped over as people leave their hotel rooms all over the nation.

With help from Nico Kaiser, the Tango icon theme has been released for Thunderbird 2. Looks great.

silverorange is looking for a sysadmin
We’re looking for a system administrator to join us at silverorange. Dan, our CEO, explains the position:
silverorange is hiring once again. This time around we’re looking for someone who has an interest in managing the systems behind the web systems we build. You’ll be in charge of running, installing, and managing our servers, managing our network (both server side and workstation side), and doing many things hardware related. You’ll also get a free cell phone! (so the servers can message you at 2am about a problem).
As the job description states, don’t call us. If you call us, you’ve failed a basic comprehension test.
Starcraft 2
and now this…
I don’t like to have all this negative energy hanging on the home page of the site, so here’s something a bit more pleasant:
