our world is an interesting place
While summer doesn't officially start for seven days, it may as well have. It is beautiful where I live. While Matt from MetaFilter plays in the sun, I'll toil in a stuffy basement (I love it here).
Nothing marks a beautiful pre-summer day like a set of random links. Enjoy:
- Kirby Ferguson, formerly of IslandEdition.com fame has a new site brewing at KirbyFerguson.com
- Signal vs. Noise links to an astounding satellite photo gallery
- Slashdot links to SPACE BLIMPS! Didn't they lose one of these on Mars?
- One of the coolest websites in the world (explodingdog.com) linked to us when their Red Robot showed up on our site.
- The same guys who did the satellite photos did this very cool MegaPenny Project (click all the way through, it's worth it).
"Ferbie Films", that's great! I like it, that new name better be just as clever.
I can't do the whole first sound of last name replacing the first sound of first name thing. I become 'Flobert' or 'Flob' (in a casual setting). It has charm, but lacks the same groundbreaking impact of "Ferbie".
Flim Films A reference to "flim flam" of course, and befitting the subversive nature of the films-to-be. Top contender.
Better Than a Stick in the Eye or Stick in the Eye Gimmicky and jokey. Not all films will be comedy, however, so perhaps not the best choice. Second name makes reference to the films being memorable, and is probably preferable.
Moving Pitchers Same reservations. I envisioned this one with a baseball motif. Currently on the scrap heap.
I'm also curious about everyone's favourite video formats (Real, WMP, QuickTime).
Thanks for the link, Steve, but please note that the site will be shambles for most of the weekend.
Quicktime has good in-browser features, but the standalone player is pretty lousy.
