now what will i listen to?
... is what millions of preteens and teenyboppers are asking themselves as the poor Backstreet Boys seem to be having some problems according to Salon.
As far as I can tell as an innocent bystander, boybands (unlike the Moffats) are still all that and a bag of chips among hip young people and I know that genres don't just vanish, but, could this indicate the beginning of the end of the boyband era? Or are the Backstreet boys getting too old and ugly?
"backstreet boys...betcha can't beat just one"
Oh. Please God. Make it so. Make it so.
Let him know how much you miss his posts.
c'mon, you already have a catchy acronym, what more do you need?
rip backdoor boys...i will miss you not.
We are huge in Japan and an Atlantic top-50 CEO plays drums for us.
Our last hit single "When I come around, MJF Cover" went quintuple platinum, I still get crates of self-addressed stamped Japanese underthings to sign and send back to the masses.
Here's a sample from his follow-up to "Cinephilennium":
But now I'm all grown up and my tastes are more discernin',
I like thought provoking films like Mississippi Burnin'
Starring Willem Dafoe and old Gene Hackman.
It's kind of like X-Mennot with mutants but with black men.
Peace out.
who do you think you are? ice cube??
you can try and break up fwp with your little solo projects, if you want. but you'll never seperate the dynamic duo of dj scooby dawg and coolbreeze.
we never liked you anyway.
We hadn't done a song since you lost my masterpiece, "Tarantino." You and Scooby Dawg were doing stuff without the group, so why not the Cinephile?
Don't you even act like you don't know what I'm talking about either. Doing all your "rap songs" for everyone to hear.
It's time for the Cinephile to get his. Attention must be paid.
So fuck you LL Coolbreeze.
aight then. you're out of the band!
let the dis songs begin.
Not a chance, pal. I quit!!!
Y'all have stupid names anyway. Ladies never loved Coolbreeze and Scooby Dawg is an MC, not a DJ.
Bitch.
Clem Snide - Loneliness Finds Her Own Way
Wire - 12XU
X-Ray Spex - Warrior in Woolworths
Sage Francis - Mullet
Hypertrophy - Pull Over (Orbital Remix)
Play with fire and you get burned.
Pedro the Lion - Simple Economics
Ben Folds Five - Julianne
Screeching Weasel - Cool Club
James Brown - For goodness sakes, just look at those cakes
Loverboy - Working for the weekend.
And is there a better email address than, "jeffiweff@hotmail.com" cause if there is I'd be surprised.
The first is an instrumental called "Cinetro". The second is called "Cinephile #1". I don't have anywhere to put them, though, so none of y'all can hear them.
Next up is a Coolbreeze/Scooby Dawg dis song and a cover of the rap song that the kid does in Magnolia.
And no, there is no better e-mail address than jeffiweff@hotmail.com. That's why I have it.
it is currently awaiting approval from mp3.com before it is made available to the public on the FWP human ear portal.
Can't talk now. Off to see Radiohead. Suckers.
Also, if it's not too late, might I suggest screaming "Creep! Creep!". It would remind Radiohead of the old days and you'd all have a good laugh.
that's right. you're next in my list of people to write dis songs about.
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
I answer, slighlty ill and delirious (more on that later). Kent (KJB) yells into his cellphone: "I'm at the radiohead concert!"
Sure enough, I could hear Thom warbling in the background. Very cute Kent.
"All I want to do is crawl into a big soft bed with lots of fluffy blankets, have sex with Chasey Lane, spoon, then nap the afternoon away."
Guess who.
And I wanted to say that I feel exactly the same way.
And Radiohead was very mellow. It is, however, amazing how much Matthew Dorrell (the so-called poet who, when he heard of my good fortune to be attending the show, sent me a note saying, "fuck you fucker", man, is that nice?) could pass for Thom Yorke if they were both trimming their hair in the same fashion. (On a related note: I also wanted to posit that if you put Steven Garrity, Ed from Northern Exp. and David Usher (Moistfrontman) in a police line-up you'd confuse some folks).
I am supposed to be reviewing the Radiohead show for a local paper for los dollaros, so I'll wait rather than piss on a graveyard. But quickly.
They played almost all of OK Computer, a few from The Bends and much of the new album. I didn't hear much from Pablo, Honey and they played most of Kid A. Their set was over two hours and located in the sunshine and moonlight of the UBC football stadium, Thunderbird Staium (with a beer garden staffed by the football team, "two beers please" was never so hard to get across). I was not sober.
As an aside, Steve Nash is not only a fine Vancouverite, Dallas Maverick and Olympian, he likes Radiohead, beer and sharing.
Tangentially, I would be happy to have coolbreeze write a "dis" song about me. I have never had a song written about me by someone who could not sing, write or play an instrument before, ought to be interesting (how's that for baiting you little fucker?).
Peace out y'all.
PS--And the new aioku is beautiful by the way (Tastes like Lecky).
PSS-P/S remove this subtitle: "Lately, the only thing keeping me from being a serial killer is my distaste for manual labour."
Thank you.
And it was not my cellphone. I am the only Vancouverite to not have one, altho I didn't notice Nash's. I am far too cool for that; it was my mommy's.
Soon you can. VincentLand.com is currently on the move to a CGI platform, including a PHP based forum oddly familiar to the one we're posting on now.
Go tell your parents.
And no it's not stealing.
I've gained, from this vantage point, an insight on the music industry. N*Sync, quintisetial boy-band, has a new song out called Pop. Before I continue, I have to point out that I find mocking of such boy-bands to be generally lame and unnecessary.
Nothing annouces the downfall of a pop-culture movement like rapping about how it's not going to happen. The New Kids on the Block did it, and now N*Sync is doing it. The parallel is fantastic
Don't be fooled though. It will be back. And don't waste your time shitting on it.
