It is a bit odd when you see it in that context but I must admit to having an intense love of Hockey Night in Canada that goes back to 1960's rec room memories of mugs of cocoa, table hockey at the intermission and the long wait through Bugs Bunny and Don Messer. Being a kid of immigrants it was the essential "Canadian" pop culture experience.

it's kind of whack. i mean, they postponed a story recorded for maritime noon at the harp and thistle's wing night featuring yours truly losing a cherynoble chicken wing eating contest because of the strike. but not hockey night in canada?? come on. priorities.

The Cadre elite, minus myself because I was still working on said newspaper and was late, attempted to each eat 15 Chernobyl wings within 10 minutes. They were not allowed any other beverage or food during their ordeal.

For some reason the CBC was covering this for Maritime Noon, and Coolbreeze couldn't shut up for long enough to fit the wings in his mouth. Joel Meggs had similar problems. Jeff Coll, hands shaking like he had Parkinson's, snot drooling down his face, was the only one who ate all the wings. Because of Jeff’s heroism, The Cadre ate and drank for free.

Speaking of which, The Cadre will be eating, but mostly drinking, for free at Moron’s from 9:00pm onwards, this Thursday the 13th. Last time we went, we were one question away from a perfect trivia score.
