Canadian Federal Leadership Debate, sans-Green
Given the petty squabling and childish interuptions I’m seeing on the Canadian federal leadership debate, maybe it’s in his best interest that the leader of the Green Party was excluded from the debate.
I’m guessing there was a language issue when Gilles Duceppe said of Canada / US relations: “Being a friend doesn’t mean you’re kneeling in front of them.” That said - he presents himself as the most reasonable and rational candidate.
Also, the only difference between the Bloc (Duceppe) and the NDP (Layton) is probably the whole separatist thing.
I'm looking forward to his next series of prints, I've been meaning to pick one up for a while.
Think of homage, when the vassal kneels before his Lord.
IMNSHO, that's a perfect frame of reference for Canada-US relations: we'll be your friends, not your vassals :)
I agree that Duceppe was the most rational and intelligent debater of the bunch. I only caught the French-language debate, but I was annoyed how each time Layton or Martin got to speak, it was just another opportunity to completely ignore the pending question and blather about how good health care would be under their leadership. (Q: Can you promise Canadians no more tax increases? A: Health care blah blah blah) Martin looked like a fool as Duceppe asked him the same question 10 times in a row and couldn't get an answer. Harper also looked silly the way he kept denying all the public statements he'd made.
