  1. Awsome music to start the work day, Steve. My humble observation; it seems like Poor Old Lu has a Rush influence. Something subtle about the vocals or the guitar reminded me of their sound. To follow up on Daniels’ post, I am rounding out an Amazon order by purchasing the Watchmen CD Silent Radar, due to the exposure of their music on AOV.

  2. Thanks Kelly. I think you’ll like Silent Radar.

I’m listening to Daniel’s copy of Shine by Daniel Lanois here at work and the entire album would qualify as beautifully recorded.

  3. Steve,
I’d be curious about what kbs level of MP3 you use for your broadcasts. The acoustic guitar fidelity on The Garden Song is pretty damned good, probably as better than my soundcard/speakers.

Aside: Use your mic’s for the next Zap your PRAM conference.

  4. Toby, the AoV radio sessions are recorded at 44.1KHz in WAV format, then encoded to MP3 at 128Kbps. There’s probably some loss, because some of the tracks go from 128Kbps MP3, to WAV, then back to 128Kbps MP3 when I mix the whole thing down.

  5. “A few people have posted replies on the Acts of Volition website that they discovered some new music and went out and bought some albums, which I think is really great, after hearing Acts of Volition radio”

    That sounds familiar…
Albums I’ve bought because of AoV Radio (I’d not heard of the artists before):

    Session One:
Brad Sucks’ “I Don’t Know What I’m Doing”
    The Darkness’ “Permission To Land”

    Session Two:
Sloan’s “Navy Blues” (Other Sloan albums on the way)

    Session Three:
Trying to get hold of something by Mike Knott.*

    Session Four:
Trying to get hold of something by Sandbox.*
The Watchmen’s “Silent Radar” is on order at Amazon

*This is difficult – I’m in the UK, and Amazon doesn’t have either (I’m sure you’ll be surprised to hear)

You’re four for four (try saying that three times, fast) so far Steven, keep up the great work!

  6. Another great session. One commnent though – the volume of the voice was improving, but it was especially noticeable how quiet it was compared to the music on this show. I was eating dinner while I listened and had to keep running back and forth to my computer to adjust the volume. The music was really lound, and the voice was really quiet.
