1000 Northern Exposure fans can’t be wrong

After an interesting four months, I’m going to close off the Northern Exposure DVD petition at 1000 signatures. This should only take another day or two – so sign up now. After I close the petition, I’ll post an overview of what happened and what will become of it.

  1. I wish the 80’s TV show Hunter would be released on DVD, but thats never gonna happen… Rick Hunter is the man, he kills all the bad guys in the end.

  2. Sure! I think a lot of hit shows would do go going on to the DVD medium… One I am waiting for is HBO’s Six Feet Under.

  3. I will pay anything to get the entire series on dvd. This is the greatest show ever made.

  4. Looking good for all those Nothern Exposure fans out there – Check out this article from USA Today (note: it’s referenced all the way at the bottom, and has next to no information about the release – but it does say its on its way)

  5. I don’t watch much television, but there was one series that completely captivated me. Northern Exposure. It would be a tragedy if it weren’t released onto DVD.

  6. So it really sounds like Northern Exposure is coming on DVD !@@##@!@@!

I’m sooooo psyched to hear that. I can’t wait to get my hands on every one. Hopefully they release a significant amount of them. What a show!!

  7. May 25th!!! Season one is available May 25t!!!!! I am sooooooooo excited!!!!! YESSSSSS!

  8. Yes, May 25th! I opened my e-mail account this morning to find a letter from Amazon saying it was available for pre-order! I was so excited I e-mailed my mother about it. lol. Finally! This makes my day. I’ll have to start saving, so I can buy it (and the rest, whenever they come).

  9. I got the same email from Amazon this morning. I am so psyched, i just can’t stand it! Alas, consumers make a difference. See what a little hard work can do. Thanks to whoever started this site. I’m sure it has made all the difference.

  10. Because I live in Canada where the original version of NX is still aired daily on a digital station, I bought a digital recorder and now have excellent DVDs of all 110 episodes. I get 5 episodes (without commercials) on a disc so there are 22 discs in the set. For $299 US (including delivery to anywhere in North America), and at an average of less that $2.75 per episode, I can share this set with anyone who doesn’t want to wait any longer, and who suspects that all 110 episodes will never be released commercially in any case. I would be happy to send out one disc for $20 to anyone who would like to have a preview first, (and then have the option of buying the rest of the set for $279).

  11. Tim,
The fact that, like Ted K, you are afraid to leave your real name and address, as well as the fact that I have never sent you a DVD of NX, shows that you don’t know what you are talking about. The testimony of Albert Hard and Kevin Scorsone (seen in the Archives of July 2003) who have bought the material and speak highly of it, show you to be devious and malicious.

I can now sell a complete Economy version of the set in a spindle case of 22 discs (original version, without commercials) for $249, (or $226 per episode) delivered, though once the commercial episodes are released I will not compete with them (even though my price would still be lower).

  12. I can attest to Tim’s message. However, it is a bit overdone. I did receive a dvd from Art, which would not play on my player. It did play on my sisters. The picture was not good at all, sound was VERY low, and I never ordered anymore from Art. Which is good becasue I am getting mine from Amazon!!!

  13. Again, having never sent a disc to “Sally”, and as she also does not leave an address, I conclude that this is another fraudulant post. I have improved my discs (since the early ones) and added an Index/Menu. I would be happy to replace “Sally’s” disc or send one (free) from later in the series if she would like to identify herself, (though I suspect that will neve happen).

  14. As you have probably heard, for another $40 or $50, Season 2 is going to be released this coming November 2, – another 7 episodes, hopefully with some more “extras”. Meanwhile I am still offering the original unedited episodes on DVDs that have not been released at between $1.85 and $2.00 per episode, plus a small mailing cost (ie. if you are impatient to get Seasons 2 to 6 right away).

  15. Art, are you still trying to pawn off those crap vcd’s. I say vcd because the frame rate on arts vcds is extremely low. Probably lower than a vcr tape. Just wanted to warn everyone of arts exploitation of a wonderful show.

  16. As some of you will have noticed, as of June, 2005, Hallmark has now completely stopped airing our beloved “Northern Exposure”. And as most of you know, as a service to loyal fans, I can offer high quality episodes of NX for less than $2 per episode, recorded digitally from a digital source in Canada. However. I will not be offering episodes which have been released commercially. This will include Season 3 after June 14, – though I could be persuaded to keep offering Season 2, since I can offer it with the original music, (unlike the commercially released version with its elevator music).

  17. Northern Exposure and Maximum Bob. Two gret shows with short lives. I want them on DVD so I can enjoy them at leisure. With all the crap on now that would be every night.

  19. BUYER BEWARE!

Don;t buy Arts crap dvd’s. they are horrible quality, and illegal to boot. He should be ashamed, but I guess he doesn’t care about laws of the land!

  20. By popular demand, and since they are not forth coming commercially with original music, I am now offering any of the 6 Seasins of Northern Exposure for $45 (plus $10 for mailing), or Seasons 2 to 6 (inclusive) for $199 US$ (with Season 1 thrown in as a freebie if desired). Everyone who has ordered them (except Ted, – who hasn’t seen them) are VERY happy with the quality.

NOTE: Ted’s version of the episodes are not up to scratch since they have been made from old (analog) tapes, instead of being recorded digitally, directly from a digital source.
